The National Data Management Center for Health (NDMC), under the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), is responsible to archive health related data. Distinctively, the center shoulders the responsibility of processing and managing researches on community health. Besides, the center is known to apply robust data analytic techniques to apply synthesis evidence. That, on its part, has been an input to ensure evidence utilization for decision making by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and other relevant stakeholders at all levels. NDMC has collaborative partnership with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington, and has established a unit studying and documenting burden of disease at a national level.

Capacity building unit develops short and long term plans for training and capacity building activities. Training focuses on big data science and heterogeneous data management with advanced statically applications. The unit coordinates the EPHI fellowship program, is design and implementation, and PhD and postdoctoral fellowship training’s in collaboration with local and international universities. In addition, the unit identifies local and international training opportunities’ for staff who are serving the unit. The unit coordinates technical workshops and short term training on different issues. Currently, the unit is coordinating different online training to advance staff capacity to do the job and attain the Mission of NDMC establishment which is to improve the health of the public through presenting high-quality evidence for decision making for the federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholder’s.
