Vacancies: Two Research Directors at the HSRC, South Africa

The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) seeks to appoint two Research Directors for its Research Use and Impact Assessment (RIA) unit.

RIA’s vision is to contribute to a prosperous, healthy and just society that uses research evidence to improve the quality of life of a people who are all well informed and actively engaged in public policy/civic matters.

RIA is a cross cutting unit with transversal responsibilities that seeks to enhance the use and impact of scientific research and manage the HSRC’s relationships, reputation and brand. We add value to the core business of the HSRC which is to conduct basic and applied research, inform public debates, and provide evidence-based policy advice. As knowledge brokers – researchers and other professionals — we work at the nexus of policy development, programme implementation and public benefit evaluation.

RIA consists of the following sections: Science Communication, Impact Assessment, HSRC Press, and Corporate Communications & Stakeholder Relations. As part of developing the required capacity to achieve its mission, RIA wishes to appoint suitable candidates to the following two senior research positions. The successful applicants will be responsible for leading teams of researchers and other professionals, and will have the option of being based in either the Pretoria or Cape Town offices of the HSRC.
